Obituary of Gary Wayne Guice

Funeral Services for Gary Wayne Guice, age 71, are scheduled for 2 PM Monday, February 14, 2022, at Bonita Road Baptist Church, with Dr. Marty Black and Bro. Casey Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held Monday from noon until 2 PM prior to the service. Mr. Guice, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022. He was a member of Bonita Road Baptist Church where he served as minister of music and senior adult minister for eighteen years. He was a loving husband, father grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing. His greatest love was for his Savior, Jesus Christ, and he faithfully served Him in many capacities, but his greatest joy was sharing the Gospel through his music. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Sharon Ann Guice; children, Toby Wayne Guice, Margaret Claire Guice, Leigh Ann Guice Akers and husband Shawn; brother, Dr. Les Guice and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Douglas Wayne Jones and wife Cassie, Alyssa Claire Jones, Taylor Brooke Mattice and husband Dakota, Madison Leigh Jones, Zack Christopher Guice and Myles Patrick Guice; great-grandchildren, Elijah Hayes Jones and Brantley James Jones, River Allen Mattice and soon to be, Westin Pollock, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Mr. Guice is preceded in death by his parents, Bro. Pat Guice and Marguerite Guice and his son, Jamie Guice. Serving as pallbearers will be Douglas Jones, Zack Guice, Dakota Mattice, Brian Greer, Hunter Greer and Parker Greer. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Daniel Trejo, Terry Hale and Percy Rogers
