Obituary of Bobby Rex Mercer

Funeral services for Bobby Rex Mercer are scheduled for 2 PM Tuesday, February 15, 2022, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 PM. Mr. Mercer, a resident of Bella Vista, AR and retired Plant Manager at Georgia Pacific, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the age of sixty-six. He was an Arkansas Razorbacks fan and also loved the LSU Tigers. He enjoyed building beautiful Koi Fish ponds, fishing, gardening, and grilling. Mr. Mercer is survived by his wife, Janis Dark Mercer; sons, Landon Mercer of Little Rock, AR, Lance Mercer and wife Shannon of Beekman, LA, and Mason Mercer of Crossett, AR; step-sons, Matthew Rinehart of Lowell, AR and Michael Rinehart and wife Mandy of Collinston, LA; sisters, Opal Noble and husband Larry of Bebee, AR, Katherine Garison and husband John of Hot Springs Village, AR, and Linda Russell and husband Porter of Warren, AR; brothers, Kenneth Mercer and wife Susan of Rye, AR, James Mercer and wife Diane of Wilmar, AR, and Billy Mercer of Rye, AR; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Shirley Dark of Bastrop, LA; sister-in-law, Terri Dark Anderson; brother-in-law, Michael Dark; grandson, Logan Mercer; step-grandchildren, Caitlyn Breedlove, Natalie Breedlove, Ryan Breedlove, Aidan Rinehart, Mia Rinehart, Westyn Rinehart, and Zeke Rinehart; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Retha Mercer; and brother, Allen Mercer. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Higginbotham, Jr., Ricky Babb, Donnie McKinney, Ronnie Gunter, Benny McDougald, and Douglas Garner. Honorary pallbearers will be his co-workers at the Georgia Pacific Tissue Mill.
