Obituary of James Leroy Cureington

Funeral services for Mr. James Leroy Cureington are scheduled for 10 AM, Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Bonita Road Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Bonita Road Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation with the family Monday night from 5-7 PM at the church. Mr. Cureington, a resident of Bastrop, and retiree of International Paper Company after thirty-nine years, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the age of seventy-four. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. His favorite hobby was fishing and he loved cooking and working outside. He was always ready and willing to help someone with projects, tasks, or problem solving. He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years, Carolyn Cureington; daughter Carmen Cooper; parents, Dorothy and Clarence Cureington; sister, Mary White: and brother, Eugene Cureington. Survivors include his daughters, Beverly Jones, and husband Lance and Amy Slade; sister, Betty Ann Stinson; brothers, Calvin Cureington, and wife Beverly and Ricky Cureington, and wife Ellen; grandchildren, Joshua Jones, and wife Alyssa, Emily Morris, and husband Clayton, Lauren Martin, and husband Michael, Jonathon Barlow, Trevor Cooper and Chloe Whiddon; great-grandchildren, Myla-Ruth, Elijah, Jeremiah, Samuel, Jude, Ezra, John Clayton, Josie, Jones, Everleigh, Garrett, Hunter, Macie, and Madi, and a host of nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Allen, Gavin Cureington, Matthew Campbell, Michael Blakley, Randy Wade, and Micah Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Peevy and Steve Wade.
