My Aunt Brenda ! I wish we had spent more time together. The things I’ll always remember about you is how much I loved your strong accent. Your long hair & bun ! Those recipes you shared with me even though I’m not a recipe kinda cook. I listened all the while while you explained every detail to me knowing i would Likely just do my own thing anyways. I just wanted to hear you talk. I enjoyed talking with you about mawmaw and my mom . You had a way with words and were always so direct and blunt which would make me giggle . You never had an issue with telling me about my big butt lol .. Your smile !! I’ll always remember how you smiled at me . How you said my name… it didn’t matter if it was years since we talked if i called you knew exactly who I was on the other line. I hope that your up there talking to mom and telling her all about me and my boys . Sending you love and hugs high into the sky always.

Shakara, I was most saddened to learn that your mom had passed away. I have lost both of my parents, so I fully understand all the emotions you are experiencing. Losing a mother is life changing for sure and you will think of her every day. You gave her so much of which to be proud. Bless you all as you move forward.
Will always love you, my sweet Shakara,
Nancy Peterson

Out of the many memories I have of AUNT BRENDA, I have to say was when one day otw home on school bus the driver overheard me (maybe) say a bad word. He told me if I pick up ALL the paper off the floor of the bus he would act like he didn't hear that (maybe) bad word well I picked it ALL up, he didn't have a trash can on board
.EXPLANATION:TRASHONFLOOR)
so I held on to it until I got to my stop.
Who's outside waiting on her Favorite Nephew?
(ONLY nephew at the time)
She asked the bus driver why he had me toting trash from his bus. Well he had fun cause NOT Only did he get his bus free of paper trash, he told my Aunt I said a bad word but it's forgiven cause I picked up the trash. Au t Brenda had me put the trash on the floor inside the door of bus. Showed me with her finger, "Get in the house". I was so happy my Aunt took up for me and showed him........Keep your own trash......
So, she proceeds into the house, to the kitchen sink, grabs something, turns around and says open your mouth.
No Big Deal..... Okay......The big deal was - what she grabbed at the sink.......... ....

My grandma raised me up until I was about five or six. She taught me so much about cooking and tending to the garden. One of my favorite memories is when we were picking vegetables from her garden and the cantaloupes were huge that summer. So big I could only carry one at a time because they couldn't fit in the bucket. That day she showed me how to peel them. When we finished, we laughed and talked and watched judge Judy and ate cantaloupe all afternoon. I'll never forget that day.
