Obituary of Mary Penelope "Penny" Murphy

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Mary Penelope “Penny” Murphy are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Beekman Cemetery with Bro. Bob Lonadier officiating. Mrs. Murphy, a homemaker, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022 at the age of seventy. She devoted her life taking care of her family, and spending time playing games with her grandkids. Her family was her pride and joy. She was an avid reader and she loved birdwatching and being outside, tending to her yard. Mrs. Murphy was “NeNe” to everyone; She will be remembered for her never ending sense of humor. She left her family with the last words, “I loved them, Everyone.” She will be so dearly missed! She is survived by her children, Neal Elton and Brandy, Brent Elton and wife Veronica, Sherri Ingram and husband Robert, Charlene and Marquita Mihaliak, and Mae Gambrell and husband Steven; brother, Harry Lilly and wife Pam; grandchildren, Makenna Elton, Sylviann Elton, Brynlee Dye, Braylie Dye, Chelsea Boies and husband Corey, Cameron Smith, Logan Smith and wife Brittany, Brileigh Elton, Bayleigh Elton, Susan Harkness and husband Cody, Taylor Ingram, Sarah Ingram, Casey Small, Codey Small, Meagan Lynchard; seven great grandchildren; and special nieces, Jonette Gray, Karla Floyd, and Karen Laing. Mrs. Murphy is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Murphy; daughter, Leslie Smith; parents, Cecil and Katharyn Lilly and a sister, Kathy Laing.
