Obituary of Frank Earl Hogan

F. Earl Hogan of Oak Ridge, La. passed away on May 31, 2022 at the age of 101.
His funeral service will be held at Oak Ridge Baptist Church on June 11. The family will receive guests from 9:00 with the service commencing at 10:00. Pastor Eddie Davis will officiate.
Earl was born May 3, 1921 in Oak Ridge, Louisiana. He graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1938; received a B.S. in civil engineering at Louisiana Tech University in 1942, and a Masters in structural engineering at Iowa State University in 1950.
Following graduation from Louisiana Tech in 1942 Earl worked for Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel Co. in Pittsburgh, PA. It was there he met and married Roberta Morgan. The couple moved to Ruston, La. in 1946 where Earl taught civil engineering; on to Baton Rouge in 1953 where he was Chief of Structural Design for the Department of Public Works, and eventually back to Oak Ridge in 1959 where he joined his father in farming. Along the way Earl and Bobbie had three sons and were active in local churches, universities, and youth organizations. Among his many endeavors Earl was a member of the Board of Directors for CenturyTel, Inc. from its founding in 1968 until his retirement at age 82; a deacon, trustee and Sunday school teacher at Oak Ridge Baptist Church; a scout master and member of the Advisory Board of the Boy Scouts of America; a Director of the Bank of Oak Ridge, and Chairman of the USDA’s state ASCS committee.
Mr. Hogan is survived by his son James Hogan of Houston, daughters-in-law Ruth Hogan and Cathey Meagher of Houston, grandchildren Grant Hogan, Todd Hogan, Cheryl Jordan, Erica Radcliffe and Ross Hogan, and great grandchildren Kate Hogan, David Hogan, Clara Jordan, Elliot Jordan, Laine Radcliffe, Lillian Radcliffe, Jack Hogan, and James F. Hogan. He is preceded in death by his wife Bobbie Hogan, his brother John Hogan, sister Grace Evelyn Johnson, and sons David and Tommy Hogan.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Earl’s many friends for their caring support, and to the staff at Lagniappe Healthcare.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
