Obituary of Stanford H. Sivils

Funeral services for Mr. Stanford H. Sivils, age 86, are scheduled for 10 AM Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. Ruben Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in LA ARK Cemetery, Jones, LA. Visitation will be held Monday, June 13 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
Stanford H. Sivils went to meet his Savior June 11, 2022 at his home. He was born June 13, 1935 to his parents, Jesse and Myrtle Sivils in Jones, LA. He attended and graduated from Bonita High School in 1953. He worked at Producers Rice Mill for many years where he started as a bookkeeper and retired as manager. Mr. “Stan” loved southern gospel music. He sang with his brothers and his dad as the original Sivils Quartet. They would sing live on KTRY radio station early on Sunday mornings. He served as music director at Wilmot Baptist Church and Pine Grove Baptist Church. In 1973 he sang with the Sivils Quartet, which included his daughter, son-in-law, Jim Sharpton and Paul Robinson. They sang in many churches in north Louisiana and southeast Arkansas for many years. In June of 2013, He married Ruth Johnson. They enjoyed their Bible study time, playing the piano and singing together.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Johnson Sivils; sons, Randy Sivils and wife Anita of Fulshear, TX, Stan Sivils of Hamburg, AR; daughters, Beverly Culp and Husband Bruce of Hamburg, AR, Karen Cox and husband Lawrence, Jr. of Bastrop, LA; brother, Roy Sivils and wife Katie of Monroe, LA; step-daughter Karen Hayes and husband Jim of Paragould, AR; step-son, Mike Johnson and wife Lori; step-daughter-in-law, Sherri Johnson; eight grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Mr. Sivils is preceded in death by his first wife of 58 years, Jimmie Sivils; his parents; two brothers, Robert and Leon; grandson, Matthew Culp and step-son, Todd Johnson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Stanford's grandsons, Jared Culp, Andy Bright, Jesse Sivils, Austin Cox and great grandsons, Ryley Culp and Craig Culp.
