Funeral services for Mrs. Victoria Morris, 88, are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at First Assembly of God on Crossett Rd. in Bastrop with Pastor Dusty Walker and Pastor Raymond Aven officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 PM until time of service under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Mrs. Morris passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 23, 2022, and was reunited with the love of her life the day before their 60th wedding anniversary. She was a devoted wife, mother, mamaw, nana, and sister. Mrs. Morris loved spending time with and cooking for her family. Chicken and dumplins, hot tamales, tacos, and dressing were just a few of her favorites she cooked for them. She enjoyed yard work, playing chicken scratch with her family, and reading her bible. Mrs. Morris was a faithful member of First Assembly of God in Bastrop and she loved her church family tremendously. Her continuous walk with Jesus was seen through every smile and kind word. She inspired others through prayer. Mrs. Morris is preceded in death by her treasured husband of 50 years, Ned Morris; parents, Frank Torres, Sr. and Maggie Busby Torres; 11 brothers and sisters; grandson, Shane Grubbs; and great-great grandson, Peyton Malone. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Linda DeShazo, and Kathy Shields; son, Dennis Morris (Charlotte); brother, Frank Torres; special sister, Gertrude Torres; grandchildren, Chris DeShazo (Tabatha), Tiffany Vidrine (Mitch), Jason Grubbs (Tiffany), Jacob Shields (Maegan), Trey Shields (Mariah), and Christy Clark, 30 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Serving the family as pallbearers are Chris DeShazo, Adam DeShazo, Jacob Shields, Trey Shields, Mitch Vidrine, and Jordan Bishop. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Harris, Jason Grubbs, and Chris Chaffin.
