Obituary of Dorothy McKee Moss

Dorothy McKee Moss, of Mer Rouge, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Oak Woods Home for the Elderly. She was 98 years old. A memorial service will be held at Mer Rouge United Methodist Church at 1 pm., Saturday, August 13. The service will be conducted by Rev. Lisa Mayo.
Mrs. Moss was born July 30, 1924, to Claude Thomas McKee and Inez Clark McKee. Upon their deaths, she was raised by Inez’s good friends, Eula and Johnny Moore and Ruth and F.A. (Speedy) Tolar. After graduating from Mer Rouge High School, Dorothy attended Business College and later married her husband, Fred on April 9, 1944.
She worked at the Mer Rouge State Bank for 42 years, retiring in 1991 as Vice President, and continued to work part time until finally retiring again at the age of 92.
Dorothy was a member of the Mer Rouge United Methodist Church, serving as secretary for many years. She was also involved in the TWIGS, the UMW and served as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She also loved to play bridge and travel with her friends and family, and especially enjoyed attending Fred’s WW11 Army Reunions.
Mrs. Moss was preceded in death by her parents and foster parents; her husband of 70 yrs., Fred Ernest Moss; and her beloved dog, Prissie.
She is survived by her son, Craig Moss of Mer Rouge; daughter Allison Moss of Lufkin, TX; granddaughter, Leah Scoggin Walters and husband Kevin of Tucson, AZ; sister, Beverly Tolar of Conway, AR; nephews, Al Blackwell of Dallas, TX, Andy Blackwell and wife Carla of Conway, AR; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
The family also wishes to thank Vicki Gregory for her wonderful, compassionate care of our Mama and Prissie.
