Obituary of Sherry Gay Houston

Graveside funeral services for Sherry Gay Houston, age 63, of Bastrop, LA, will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Beekman Cemetery with Bro. Jim Brent officiating. Mrs. Houston went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, August 26, 2022. She was a skilled meat cutter working in the grocery industry for over thirty years at several local businesses. She was a hardworker and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a generous, loving person with a heart of gold! Her laughter was infectious and to know Sherry was to love her! She is survived by her husband, Gerald Houston; daughters, Katrina Griffin and Patricia Houston; sons, Gerald Lynn Houston and wife Leslie, Gerald Houston, Jr. “Little Gerald” and wife Tammy; son-in-law, Dennis Griffin; sister, Debra Brent and husband Jim and children; aunts, Jewel Ruth and children, Sue Middlebrooks and children; uncles, G.W. Harris and Royce Harris; eighteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; special nephew, Stephen Lambert; special niece, Laura Lambert; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends. Mrs. Houston is preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie Hughes and Marie Moore; sister, Cynthia Lambert; and brother, Jimmie “Bug” Hughes. Serving as pallbearers are: Brylan Griffin, Austin Herrington, Jackson Goodwin, Jamie Robinson, Josh Lowery, Andy Gladney and Johnny Barnett.
