Obituary of Sandra "Sandy" Baker Coats

Funeral services for Mrs. Sandra “Sandy” Baker Coats, age 75, are scheduled for 10 AM Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at First Baptist Church with Bro. Richard Gambill and Bro. Larry James officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, September 19, from 5 PM until 7 PM in First Baptist Church Activity Building.
Mrs. Coats, a retired office administrator, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family Thursday, September 15, 2022. She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church and was a big part of the Bastrop and Sterlington thrift store church ministries. She was a graduate of Bastrop High School and a part of the “Girls of 65". She loved playing games, cards, and was a big prankster. She loved scaring people and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s ball games. She loved her friends, family, and church family.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert A. “Andy” Coats; daughter, Christine Coats Gillikin and husband Jay of Monroe, LA; son, Robby Coats and wife Lisa of Bastrop, LA; grandchildren, Justin Coats and wife Holly; Morgan Carter and fiancé Jake Bradford, Blake Gillikin and wife Tyler; Brice Gillikin and wife Kristen; great grandchildren, Ridge Coats, Rylan Coats, Reed Coats, River Coats, Hoyte Carter, Pearson Carter, Jackson Bradford, Elizabeth Gillikin, Catherine Gillikin, Dean Gillikin and Emilia Gillikin.
Mrs. Coats is preceded in death by her parents, Elwood and Juanita Baker; brother, Michael Baker and sister, Myra Baker Albritton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Coats, Blake Gillikin, Brice Gillikin, Ridge Coats, Rylan Coats and Jay Gillikin. Honorary pallbearers are Mr. Coats Thursday morning prayer group.
The family asks that memorials be made to First Baptist Church or the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.
