Funeral services for Mr. Jack Marshall Scoggins are scheduled for 2 PM, Saturday, October 1, 2022 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Chris Winterman officiating. Interment will follow in the Bartholomew United Methodist Church Cemetery. There will be a time for visitation with the family on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 4-6 PM at Goldens. Mr. Scoggins passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center at the age of 78. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Sadie Scoggins; sister, Margaret Nolan; and brothers, Aubrey Scoggins, Eldred Scoggins, and Billy Scoggins. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of West Monroe. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a graduate of Louisiana State University, with a degree in forestry. Mr. Scoggins was a successful businessman having owned and operated Scoggins Supply Company in Mer Rouge for almost forty years. He was dedicated to his community as well, serving on the board of directors of Morehouse General Hospital, MEDCO, and the Morehouse Chamber of Commerce. Above and beyond all of that, he loved his family dearly, and loved visiting with his grandchildren at every opportunity possible. His hobbies included gardening and cooking and he was an avid LSU fan, as well. Survivors include his daughter, Laura Achord and fiancé Todd Tarver; siblings, Hazel Lambert, Sybil Stevenson, Nancy Sivils, and Sadie Strahan; grandchildren, Austin Marshall Achord, Mary Blake Achord, and Grayson Achord; very close friend and mother of his daughter, Mary Dale Scoggins; and a host of nieces and nephews. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Matt Scoggins, Randall Stevenson, Michael Sivils, Arthur Strahan, Dale Nolan, and Ross Riles.
