Obituary of Roy F. Cook

Funeral services for Roy F. Cook are scheduled for 10 AM Friday, October 7, 2022, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Doug Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Northeast Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery of Rayville, LA. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 5 PM - 7 PM at Goldens.
Mr. Cook, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the age of eighty-two. He was a retired United States Air Force Vietnam Service Veteran and was a member of the American Legion, working his way up to Louisiana State Department Vice Commander. Mr. Cook owned/operated an A/C Appliance and Repair business and was also the landlord of several rental properties. He was on the board of the Smith/Wilson scholarship and was a member of the VFW in Oak Grove, LA. He was known as a very patriotic man, his love for his country unwavering. Mr. Cook loved deer hunting, fishing, and loved his dogs, Gracie and Bear.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Cook; daughters, Laura Willett and husband Terry of Alexandria, LA, Tina Reynolds and husband, Mitch of Bastrop, LA, Ann Cook of Waxahachie, TX, and Bridgett Carpenter and husband Jamie of Bastrop, LA; sons, James Cook and wife Tiffany of Alexandria, LA, and Shannon Sarver and wife Tammy of Montgomery, LA; brother, David Arlan Cook wife Dollie of Ft. Worth, TX; twenty-seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchilden; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
Mr. Cook is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Gracie Cook; daughter, Clara Jacks; siblings, Talmadge Walthall, Toney Walthall, Carl Walthall, Jr., Floyd Cook, Lloyd Cook, Ivy Cook, Harold Cook, Alline Bonds, Virginia Plumbley, Calvin Cook, Jr., J.P. Cook, Frank Cook, and Gracie Bell Cook.
Serving as pallbearers will be Hunter Carpenter, Dalton Carpenter, Kyler Carpenter, James Cook, Anthony Baillio, and Ferrell Hoskins. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Carpenter, Mitch Reynolds, Benny Perrault, Donnie Tillman, Ricky Curtis, Adam Yerby, Shannon Sarver, Wayne Powell, and Foster Desselles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tunnel 2 Towers or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
