Obituary of Thomas Dean Rookard, Jr.

Funeral services for Thomas Dean “Tommy” Rookard, Jr. are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, October 7, 2022, at New Life Church, with Bro. Joey Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday, prior to the service, beginning at 1 PM.
Mr. Rookard, a member of New Life Church, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022, at the age of sixty-eight. He loved his family and enjoyed being around people. Mr. Rookard loved sitting on the porch drinking his coffee and watching the birds. He also enjoyed deep sea fishing in years past.
Mr. Rookard is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Brenda Spann Rookard; sons, Thomas Dean “Trey” Rookard, III and wife, Carrie, Matthew Spann Rookard and wife, Kelly, and Austin Lynwood Rookard; sisters, Ladonna Rookard Dodd, Lisa Rookard Ratcliff and husband, Deryl, and April Rookard Jackson; grandchildren, Garrett Rookard, Grace Rookard, Anna Rookard, Lillian Rookard, Spann Rookard, Evariste Rookard, Theodore Rookard, Hunter Bryan; and niece, Amber Wilkerson.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Dean “Big Tommy” Rookard; mother and stepfather, Doyce Rookard Abernathy and J.D. Abernathy and brother-in-law, Dan Dodd.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Garrett Rookard, Deryl Ratcliff, Tab Wilkerson, Jr., Charlie Wilkerson, Hunter Bryan, Brandon Layton, Jonathan White, Robert Younger and Donnie Dozier.
