Obituary of Michael Louis "Mike" Trippe

Funeral services for Mr. Michael Louis Trippe are scheduled for 2 pm Monday, October 17, 2022, at Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip McCready officiating. Interment will be at Stevenson Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday prior to service, beginning at noon. Mr. Trippe, a life-long resident of Bastrop, was born October 30, 1952, and passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022, following a lengthy illness. He was retired from JB Hunt Trucking, where he was awarded the Million Mile Safe Driver award. Mr. Trippe was also retired from the Louisiana National Guard, serving in New Orleans during the 1979 police strike and multiple deployments to Panama. After his retirement, he could often be found in his shop, designing or working on his next project. Survivors include his wife, Karen; daughter, Amber Trippe Fife; stepdaughter, Billie McKee of Little Elm Texas; sisters, Pam Hayes, Georgia Day and husband David; brother-in-law, Lamar Degges; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Trippe is also survived by his beloved dog, Charlie and grandpups, Oliver and Indy. Mr. Trippe is preceded in death by his parents, William Ralph and Mary Juanita “Bill” Trippe; sisters, Alexia Trippe and Terri Degges; brother, Lamar Trippe; and nephew, Joshua Degges.
