Obituary of Shelvia "Sheb" Jean Chain Crook

Shelvia (Sheb) Jean Chain Crook was born on August 25, 1937 in West Carroll
Parish, Louisiana to George P. and Velma Hogue Chain. She died on October 26,
2022 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 85. She lived the majority of her life in Bastrop, Louisiana until the last several years.
Shelvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Thomas L. Crook; her parents, George P. and Velma Hogue Chain; and her brother, Jimmy G. Chain.
She is survived by her children, Karen D. Murphy, Joni M. Murphy and husband,
Mark Gross, and Joel K. Murphy; her step-children, Edward W. (Eddie) Crook,
William E. (Billy) Crook and Clarissa Crook Gallo; her seven (7) grandchildren,
Courtney D. Crook, Shelvia Maureen Gross, Victoria Glynn Gross, Cade L. Murphy,
Brooke S. Murphy, Joshua K. Gallo and Nicholas B. Gallo; her brother, George A.
Chain and wife, Ruth, and her sisters, Shirley Ann Richards and husband, Lloyd W.
(Buddy) Richards, and Dottie Sue Musgrove and husband, Stephen L. (Butch)
Musgrove, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 8:30am until 10:00am at Bethel Baptist Church, 14489 Crossett Rd., Bastrop, Louisiana. Services will
immediately follow with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Interment will be at Memorial
Park Cemetery, 10800 US Hwy. 425, Bastrop, Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be her seven (7) nephews, Kevin Chain, Hardy Chain, Heath Chain, Andy Richards, Greg Musgrove, Tim Musgrove and Todd Musgrove, and her cousin, Kenny Chain. Honorary Pallbearers are George A. Chain, brother, Lloyd W. (Buddy) Richards and Stephen L. (Butch) Musgrove, brothers-in-law.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Magnolia Brook Assisted Living, Baton
Rouge, Louisiana, most especially those on the Memory Care Unit, for the excellent care and compassion they provided to Shelvia for the past 3+ years. Gratitude is also expressed to St. Joseph Hospice, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as well as to Golden Funeral Home, Bastrop, Louisiana, for their care and service.

Services of the Capital Area (www.alzbr.org) or to the national Alzheimer’s
Association (www.alz.org).
