Obituary of Bessie Jones Freeman

Bessie Jones Freeman went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 14, 2022, at the age of ninety-one. Graveside funeral services celebrating her life will be held 1 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with her nephew, Rev. Jeff Freeman officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home from 11 AM - 12:30 PM, prior to the service.
Mrs. Freeman was born June 23, 1931 in Oak Ridge, LA, to Walter and Corean Jones. She was married to the love of her life, Julius Freeman for fifty years. She was a longtime member of White Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Freeman loved her consignment shop as well as her customers who became friends. After retirement, she enjoyed going to estate sales with her many friends.
Mrs. Freeman is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her siblings, Dorothy Engberg, James Jones, Jimmy Jones, Martin Luther Jones, and Lavelle Jones.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Freeman and wife, Frances, and Alan Freeman and wife, Beth; daughter, Beverly Nealy and Rob Hall; grandchildren, Renee Stephenson and husband, Chris, Jamie Christian, Stephenie Harris, Crystal Pickering and husband, Ray, and Justin McCrary and wife, Tina; great grandchildren, Talia Berry and husband, Kagen, Lani Lenard, Shanna Scott, Madeline Christian, Sidney Stephenson, Maggie Pickering, Wesley Jane McCrary, and Andie Jo McCrary; great-great grandchildren, Lyra Berry and Parker Young; sisters, Sylvia Coleman, and Helen Wrenn and husband, Tommy; brothers, Thomas Jones and Dewey Jones; special friends, Sharon Bounds, with whom she has made many trips and who has always been there to help her in many ways, and also, Vernon and Jan Carroll.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Joseph, Justin McCrary, Ray Pickering, Chris Stephenson, Vernon Carroll, Eric Calvillo, and Daniel Pearson.
The family would like to thank everyone who sent cards of sympathy and food to Mrs. Freeman. She was so appreciative of your kindness. The family would also like to thank Louisiana Hospice Care along with her nurse, Reba, and her aide, Cherry, for their special love and care.
