Peggy and family,
We are at loss for words to express how sorry we are to hear about Jimmy. Morehouse Parish will feel the absence of his involvement through his support and encouragement of so many citizens for a long time to come. His kindness was known to anyone that knew him. Our thoughts and prayers to you all.

I have always thought of Jimmy like he was my cousin, even though it was through marriage that he was. He was always there for any thing that anyone needed. I am so pleased that he was given the JD Kelley Award in 2020, which is now of the Kelley Christmas award. That would have pleased JD my brother so very much. they are now rejoicing with the Lord in heaven. Peggy, I wish I could be there to give you a big hug, but know that my thoughts and prayers in the days to come will be for you. Sending my love to you now. Bonnie Kelley

I probably have one of the stranger connections to Mr. Jimmy, so here goes.
I spent the first 29 years of my life in northern MN, so in the fall of 1992 I moved to Bastrop, LA, that's just about the biggest culture shock you can get!
Since I was working for the newspaper, I had regular contact with basically the whole Christmas clan and the business empire.
Young Chris and I became fast friends.
I used to bring the paper hot off the press every afternoon to Mr. C.V., I knew he liked to be on the cutting edge of goings on in town.
Then my dad died in MN, things changed, some for the worse, some for the better.
Mr. Jimmy and the whole Christmas clan sort of took me in under their wings.
Everyone up til then had just called me a Yankee, I didn't mind, then Mr. Jimmy says: "Godfrey, you say you're from MN?" Yup. "You ain't no Yankee, you a Northerner."
Next thing I know I'm invited to steak cookouts, and crawfish boils! Don't even get me started about the time they wanted me to eat the squirrel brain at the deer camp.
Anyway, I was blessed to be raised by a good father, and after he passed, I felt blessed to watch how a good man operates in the business world.
Thank you Mr. Jimmy, and really the whole Christmas clan for accepting me, and making me feel like family.

Mrs. Peggy and Chris, I am so glad I got to visit with Mr. Jimmy before I came back to work. I was already planning to see him when I got home. Mr. Jimmy was a good friend, gave good advise and was just great to talk to about anything. I will miss seeing him in the back of his truck at the football games and the conversations before every football or baseball game or when I would stop by his office. I will miss Mr. Jimmy.

My dear Peggy and family, my heart is very saddened for your loss. I have thought of myself as part of the entire Christmas family for so many years. As you know, my friendship goes back to Syble and Chris Christmas, who I loved dearly. I have always had the utmost respect and admiration for Jimmy. He has always been very special and will be sorely missed. He has given so much of his life to Morehouse Parish in order to make it a better place. May God Bless you all and know you're in my prayers.

My heart is hurting! Mr. Jimmy and Ms. Peggy have been a part of my life forever! From being my grandparent's neighbors on Cooper Lake Road to all the events at Prairie View. Mr. Jimmy will definitely be missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
Ms. Peggy, Christy, and Chris & family you all are in our thoughts and prayers. PVA events won't be the same without seeing Mr. Jimmy's smiling face, but we know he will have the best seat in the house.
