Obituary of Leland Dewight Cable
Please share a memory of Leland Dewight to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Leland was born in Warren, Ohio, to Mike and Shirley Cable. He grew up in Bastrop, Louisiana, but was able to travel to almost every state in the country while his dad worked as a pipeliner. Leland accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age and was a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church until 2007, where he served as head of the TV ministry for more than 20 years. He worked in the pipelining and oil industries for years in Alaska, Utah, California, Louisiana, and then began a long career in the water industry in Louisiana, Kansas, and Arizona
Leland married Sherry in 1988. He is survived by his son, Ashley and Nikki, and grandson, Skyler. Leland shared Sherry's two daughters: Amy Glenn and Kristy Pulkrabek and grandsons Carson and Ben. He is survived by 3 brothers, Milton, Robert, and Kerry and Fran and their families. Also, he is survived by his father-in-law, J.H. Lockwood, two brothers-in-law, Mike and Bill, and their families.
Leland is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Sherry Cable.
At the age of 51, Leland and Sherry moved to Garden City, Kansas. There, in 5 short years, they made many wonderful, lifelong friends. At the age of 56, God brought them to Phoenix, Arizona - they thought so Sherry could help take care of the grandchildren. But in 2016, Leland, being at one of the best lung hospitals in the country, was blessed with a double lung transplant. For the rest of his life, Leland was eager to share his remarkable journey of God's leading with all he met. He never complained but was always thankful. Leland and Sherry are presently members of First Southern Baptist Church in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Memorial contributions may be made to Foundation for Prader-Willi Research, 340 S. Lemon Ave. #3620, Walnut, CA 91789.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 12 noon in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Neil Everett and Bro. Rex Horne officiating. A time of visitation will be held Saturday from 11 AM until 12 noon service time at Goldens.
