Obituary of David Eugene Benson

Funeral services for Mr. David Eugene Benson are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Loch Arbor Baptist Church with Bro. Andy Myrick and Bro. William Sikes officiating. Interment will follow in Loch Arbor Church Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 from 5 PM - 7 PM at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
David, a member of Loch Arbor, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the age of fifty-nine. He was a glazier for twenty years working at Twin City Glass and Acme Glass until his health declined. David was an avid LSU and Saints fan who also enjoyed grilling his famous BBQ. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Rose Judkins Benson; daughters, Emily Jones and husband, Adam, Brandi Evans; mother and father-in-law, Onnie and Harold Judkins; siblings, Linda McDonald and husband, Bobby, Helen Watt, Dennis Watt and wife, Vickie, Carl Watt and wife, Giesla, Cathy Stripling and husband, Roger, and Bobbie Sue Watt; grandchildren, Bentley Evans, and Evelyn Jones; special nephews he considered brothers, Ricky McDonald and wife, Veronique, Tommy Tumlison and wife, Lisa, Roger Stripling, Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
David is preceded in death by his father, J.L. Benson; mother, Reba Freeland; nephews, Jack Allen Dean, Jody Sanders, and Dean Watt.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Patrick Golden, Ethan Horton, Mike McKenzie, Michael Grantham, Joshua Grantham, and Clarence Scott.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Premier Hospice, his caregivers, Ella, Morgan, Mary Ellen, Robert, and Bro. Andy Myrick. Also, a special thank you to a family friend who also helped take care of David, Chelsea Swain and daughter, Sadie Jo.
