Obituary of Tammy Lynn Goodman
Please share a memory of Tammy Lynn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Tammy Lynn Carr Goodman, age 60, loving sister and friend to many in the Bastrop and Log Cabin area, passed away on the evening of March 7, 2023 after a long battle with respiratory disease. Tammy was born on July 19, 1962 in Jonesboro, Arkansas and grew up surrounded by family, including her sisters Theresa Carr and Sandy O’Fallon and a host of cousins, aunts and uncles. Tammy has been laid to rest beside her husband James at Memorial Park Cemetery on Hwy. 425.
In her late teens and twenties, Tammy belted musical notes and songs that made listeners want to hear more. Tammy was known to swing her hips and dance a jig, all in good fun. She was gifted with a voice that could have easily placed on The Voice, a popular tv show that she watched and loved.
Tammy met her husband, James Goodman, while living at Mollicy Farms with parents Bill and Carolyn Carr. Tammy and James fell in love while dating and married shortly after. James was the love of Tammy’s life and preceded her in death by twelve years.
For work, Tammy was a local convenience store clerk. She was a natural for remembering customer names, faces and their family history after a single meet. She never met a stranger, and left plenty of long-lasting impressions. Tammy’s favorite past-time was riding around town with James and/or Theresa while visiting people and stopping in at their favorite places. Interacting with people brought Tammy so much joy. She had a special group of close friends/family who checked on her regularly. This enriched her life in so many ways.
After Tammy became disabled, you could find her cruising the aisles of Wal-Mart on a motor cart, if one was charged and ready. Going to Wal-Mart with Tammy was never a quick event because she knew ‘what felt like’ everyone, and spoke to them all.
Our sister adored good food. She would ask us how something tasted or quiz us about the ingredients in a dish. Tammy had a knack for describing vittles to a tee.
By far, Facebook was her favorite social media app. For the past eight years, Tammy read all of her family and friends posts. She loved being able to keep up with her people despite being unable to travel much in the end.
Our Tammy will be missed. She is survived by her sister Theresa Carr, sister/cousin Sandy O’Fallon, and a host of others (too many to name). She is preceded in death by her husband James Goodman, mother Carolyn Carr, father Bill Carr and a host of others (too many to name).
While it is sad having to say goodbye to a funny, sassy, caring woman and beautiful sister, we rest easy knowing that Tammy was a believer in Jesus Christ and she no longer must endure any physical human pain. Rest in Peace, Tammy Lynn Goodman. We cherish all of the years and memories that we had with you. Keep our Heavenly seats warm until we meet again.
