Obituary of John Harvey Herrington, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. John Harvey Herrington, Jr., age 84, are schedule for 2 PM Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Doug Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Bonne Idee Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from noon until 2 PM, service time at Golden’s. Mr. Herrington, a resident of Bastrop, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023. He was a member of the Morehouse Fox Hunters Association, loved team roping and running his hound dogs. Mr. Herrington was also an avid quail hunter. He is survived by his son, Uhola Brett “Udie” Herrington of Bonita, LA; step-son, Keith “Bo” Pepper and wife Phyllis of Bastrop, LA; step-daughter, Sheila Hundley and husband John of Bastrop, LA; sisters, Mary Jane Hill and husband Bob of Bonita, LA, Betty Faye Tullos of Bonita, LA; brothers, Spencer Herrington and wife Minnie Pearl of Bonita, LA, Hugh Warren Herrington and wife Kitty of Bastrop, LA, Mike Herrington and wife Bonita of Mountain View, AR; grandchildren, Kristen Herrington, Brett Herrington and fiancée Ashlyn Meadows, Claire Herrington; great grandchildren, Oliver, Waylon, Gracelynn, Layla, Channing and Kaidyn and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Mr. Herrington is preceded in death by his parents, John Harvey, Sr. and Sybil Herrington and brother, Dale Ray Herrington. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Montgomery, Rusty Cox, David Cooke, Bo Pepper, Kenneth Stephens and Mike Tubbs. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Riles, David Bryan, Bro. Andy Myrick and Steve McKee.
