Mrs. Hazel spent her teenage and early adult life in Kansas. She married the love of her life, Arthur Floyd Carter, Sr. on November 17, 1958. Three children later, in 1965 they made their way south, where they made Collinston their home. She loved being with her children, grand and great grandchildren, no matter what the occasion. She encouraged all she came in contact with and had a heart full of love for everyone she met.
Mrs. Hazel was hired as a sewing machine operator working for the Garment Factory in Bastrop when it opened as Master Slacks and continued to work there
as the name changed to Ditto, and then Jordache Jeans. Before her retirement she worked as a technician in the school cafeterias for various schools.
She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Thurman; mother, Evelyn L. Stewart; her husband of 57 years, Arthur Floyd Carter, Sr.; son-in-law, Greg Church; two grandsons, Michael Darrell and Nathaniel Gregory Church.
Left to cherish her memories, are her three children, daughter, Rhonda Kay Church; son, Arthur Floyd Carter Jr. (Lisa); son, John Joseph Carter (Rose); brother, Jay Stewart (Lisa) of Kansas City, Kansas; grandchildren, Arthur Carter III, Daniel Carter (Hannah), Alyssa Carter, Joe Rainwater Jr. (Donna), John Carter Jr.; great grandchildren Carter and Micah Church, Mia Carter, Elizabeth Mosley, Aaron Armfield, Trey Rainwater, and Ryder Rainwater; sister-in-law, Cathy Oser (Jerry), brother-in-law, D.L. Carter (Mary Ann); and numerous nieces and nephews. And her fur baby named Sugar.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearer will be Arthur Carter, III.
Mrs. Hazel was a member of First Baptist Church of Collinston. She loved her Lord and believed in prayer. The family would like to thank Bro Shelton Morgan, her Church family and the many friends, who have prayed and supported her and Premier Hospice for their care.
