Obituary of Melba Jean Overturf

Graveside funeral services for Melba Jean Overturf, age 91, of West Monroe, LA, formerly of Stuttgart, AR will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the Pinecrest Memorial Park and Garden Mausoleum in Little Rock, AR with Dr. Sam Roberts officiating. Funeral services are under the direction of Golden Funeral Home, of Bastrop, LA. Mrs. Overturf, a member of First Baptist Church of Stuttgart, AR for fifty-four years, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023. Her life ministry was raising children. She raised three sons, then went to work for Noah’s Ark Day Care, a ministry of First Baptist Church, Stuttgart. She wanted parents to be at ease about leaving their children in her care. She was an excellent cook, and was best known for her chicken and dumplins and chocolate pies. She left a great legacy as a loving mother. Mrs. Overturf is survived by her loving husband of seventy-six years, Joe Overturf; sons, David Overturf, and wife Kathy, Gary Overturf, and wife Karen, Rick Overturf, and wife Lynell; grandchildren, Sarah Leech, and husband Charles, Matt Overturf, and wife Courtney, Lindsay Overturf, and wife Shayla, Taylor Overturf, and wife Jennifer, Steven Overturf, Erin Norris, Will Norris, and wife Clesi; great grandchildren, Landon, Andi Leigh, Tyler, Silas, Jonathan, Gracyn, Riley Grace, Luke and Brooks. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emmert and Lauretta Bell; brothers, Jack Bell, Lester Bell, Clarence “Bill” Bell, Bobby Bell and sisters, Mildred Parker and Juanita Asay. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Overturf, Taylor Overturf, Steven Overturf, Charles Leech, Landon Leech and Will Norris.
