Obituary of William "Buddy" Flood Smith

William (“Buddy”) Flood Smith, 77, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on September 30, 2023 in Roswell, Georgia. He was born on November 2, 1945 was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanne Page Smith and John Madison Smith of Bastrop and sister, Helen Jeanne Smith of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Buddy will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 27 years, Julia Campion as well as his children; son, Damon (Katy) Smith; daughters: Shannon Goeuriot, Page (Jim) Pfander and Lauren (Michael) Cushman as well as their mother and first wife, Salley (Hover) Smith. Grandchildren: Sophie, Olivia, Eloise, Ella, Audrey and Tyler.
Buddy was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather and husband. He grew up in First Baptist Church of Bastrop and continued his service to the Lord at Hall Boulevard Baptist Church in Tigard, Oregon as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Trustee. While he was sick he participated participating in daily Bible Studies on-line lead by Pastor Michael Ruptak.
Buddy graduated from and taught at Louisiana State University (LSU) with a Degree in Architecture and had a long career as a Construction Administrator. His many accomplishments included: working on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Concourse C at Cleveland Airport, and the Gund Arena (currently Rocket Mortgage Field House) in Cleveland; the John Deer Plant in Illinois; Bolling Air Force Base in D.C.; U.S. Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, Maryland and Chic-Fil-A headquarters in Georgia.
Buddy’s hobbies included traveling in the U.S and Europe as well as playing golf.
Visitation from 11 am-Noon on December 16, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Bastrop followed by a Celebration of Life in Buddy’s memory at Noon. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Baptist Cemetery in Oak Ridge, Louisiana under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to American Parkinson Disease Association or the First Tee Gulf Coast Association located at 3924 W. Navy Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32507 in memory of him.
Buddy’s departure leaves a big void in our hearts, but his love will forever be cherished.
