Memorial funeral services for Mr. Billy Amons, age 79, are scheduled for 11 AM Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Richie Craig officiating. Mr. Amons passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1963, as a Communication Center Specialist and Cryptographer, and was honorably discharged in January of 1969 as Sergeant in rank. He served in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he was a nursing home owner and administrator of multiple homes for over fifty years. He was an avid horseman. He trained and developed barrel and cutting horses. Billy had a great love for the outdoors and animals. He was most proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was an affectionate husband, father, brother, and papaw. He had a charitable heart and was quick to offer help to anyone in need. He is survived by his wife, Betty Amons; his children, Tonya Cameron and husband, Michael, Crystal Houston and husband, Sam; his grandchildren, Tiffany Comeaux and husband, Jeremy, Courtney Henry and husband, Ian, Sarah Cameron; great grandchildren, Noah Comeaux, Logan Henry, Sawyer Comeaux, Laurel Henry, Easton Bickish; his brothers, Robert "Bobby" Amons and wife, Doylene, Gene Amons and wife, Brenda; sisters, Barbara Nugent, Gale Nugent and numerous nieces and nephews. He loved his family dearly and they all loved him and will miss him. Mr. Amons is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Mayo Amons, Sr. And Lillie Mae Amons Beasley and his brothers-in-law, Clifford “Buster” Nugent and Raymond Nugent. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. John Coats, and also to Elara Caring, and Hospice Nurse, Carrie.
