Barbara Ann Jordan, 60, of Downsville, LA, passed away on June 2, 2024, in Houston, TX, after a 3-year battle with lung cancer. Services will be held at Golden’s Funeral Home of Bastrop on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am followed by the funeral at 11 am with Bro. Thomas Patton of Piney Woods Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop, LA. Barbara was born in Bastrop, LA to Johnny “Buddy” and Benita Jordan on December 27, 1963. She graduated from Bastrop High School in 1981 and she earned her certification as an accounting clerk from Bastrop Vocational Technical College in 1983. Her love of numbers resulted in a fulfilling career at Southeast Foods in Monroe, LA where she held the positions of accounting clerk, rebates, assistant to the owners, staff accountant, AP supervisor, and office manager. Barbara settled in Downsville, LA where she raised her four children - Chad, Leigh-Anne, Victoria, and Allison. She believed her biggest calling in life was to be a mother - to anyone and everyone she encountered, and later, a grandmother. She was a very involved member of Piney Woods Christian Church of Downsville and served as their treasurer for ten years. The biggest cornerstones of her life were her children and her faith in God. Before her cancer diagnosis, she was a caregiver to her mother, Benita. The two were very close and loved watching Hallmark movies, finding a good deal at a garage sale, attending Piney Woods Chicks meetings, and going to church. She lived her life to be a testimony for God. Whether it was giving money to a stranger at the hospital, giving away a prayer cross because she felt a “God-tug” to someone, or simply wrapping you in a hug and praying for you. Her selflessness, sense of humor, loving spirit and inhuman strength were a blessing to everyone who encountered her. Barbara is survived by her brother Kelvin Jordan, sister-in-law Linda Jordan, children Chad Hopper, Leigh-Anne McCullin, Victoria Patrick, and Allison Elliott, and their families – including many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and an endless amount of family she “adopted” over the years. She is preceded in death by her father Johnny “Buddy” Jordan, mother Benita Theresa Jordan, and mamaw Audie Mae Jordan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Research. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to MD Anderson Cancer Center and her team: Dr. Negrao, Gabrielle, and Jennifer for providing an amazing level of care, dedication, and compassion to Barbara over the last 3 years. Also, to St. John’s Hospice of Conroe and Monroe: Alma, Sandra, Kara, Kiersten, and Phillip for their care, consideration, and attention to Barbara and her caregivers at the end of her life.
