Obituary of Linda Rawls "Nanny" Burgess

Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Rawls “Nanny” Burgess, age 80, of Bastrop, LA are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, July 19, 2024, at Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip McCready officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove South Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 11:30 AM until 2 PM service time. Mrs. Burgess, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the age of eighty. She loved her family and raising her sweet babies (grandkids). Mrs. Burgess retired from the Prep Center and spoke often of the love she had for her Prep Center babies. She enjoyed cooking and working crossword puzzles. She will be missed dearly. Mrs. Burgess is survived by her son-in-law, Cary Tilbury; sisters-in-law, Carolyn White and Gloria Bennett; grandchildren, Miranda Tilbury Chorette, and husband Tripp, John Cary Tilbury II, and wife Jordyn; great grandchildren, Ava Barnhill, Annistyn Chorette, Karoline Tilbury, Maebry Chorette, Kynlee Tilbury, Kase Tilbury, Ty Barnhill, and Rachel Barnhill; extended family members, Steve and Heather Barnhill; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cubee O. Burgess; daughter, Kristy Burgess Tilbury; parents, Harvey and Emma Rawls; sisters, Judy Nance and Jean Mullins; and brother, Freddie Rawls. Serving as pallbearers will be Byron Rawls, John Paul Carter, Chris Carter, Willie Rawls, Steve Barnhill, and Ty Barnhill. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray Carter, David Wimbish and Perry Book. The family wishes to express a special thank you to all the ones who assisted during Linda's illness.
