Funeral services for Louie D. (LD) Carpenter are scheduled for 2 PM Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Andy Myrick officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, prior to the service, beginning at 12 noon. Mr. Carpenter was born on July 19, 1947, and passed away July 20, 2024, at the age of seventy-seven. He attended Bastrop High School and joined the United States Army where he served until honorably discharged in 1968. He retired after 40 plus years in 2015 from Offshore Marine service industry. He served as Chief Engineer for an Offshore Oil & Gas industry supply vessel in The Gulf of Mexico, The Beauford Sea of Alaska and other sea’s spanning the planet such as Trinidad, Venezuela, Mexico and Africa. Mr. Carpenter’s hobbies included hunting and fishing. After retirement, he enjoyed watching westerns on tv and Wheel of Fortune. Mr. Carpenter is survived by his sister, Doris Brown, and husband Richard; nieces, Belinda Kitchens, Teresa Day, Dewana Curran (Blake), Samantha Carpenter (Pete), Tanya Carpenter, and Blair McLeod; nephews, Michael Coleman (Sherry), Corey Kitchens, Robert Carpenter (Ashley); numerous other nieces and nephews; and other siblings, Joy Shockley and Eugene Carpenter. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Carpenter; parents, Elmer S. Carpenter and Hazel F. Carpenter; brother, Claude Junior Carpenter, Sr.; sister-in-law, Peggy Carpenter; sister, Verna Reppond; and nephew, Kelvin Lee Kuykendall. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Coleman, Corey Kitchens, Ryan Ridere, Samantha Carpenter, Blair McLeod, and Richard Brown.
