Homegoing services for Bro. Donald Ray “Don” Bryan are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, August 23, 2024, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Bro. Casey Johnson and Bro. Steve Speer officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, prior to the service, beginning at 1 PM. Bro. Bryan, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the age of eighty-six. He was a retired master electrician and past bi-vocational pastor, most recently at New Friendship Baptist Church and Holly Ridge Baptist Church. Bro. Bryan was also a previous headmaster and co pastor at Victory Baptist Church and Academy in Pine Bluff, AR. He was a graduate of Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, LA, where he later became a Professor of Biblical studies. Bro. Bryan was a member of the IBEW Union and also served his country in the United States Air Force as loadmaster from 1956-1960. He was a musician and bass singer for the Crusaders Quartet in the 1960's and 1970's, and some of his favorite pastimes included hunting and fishing. Bro. Bryan is survived by his wife, Georgia Armstrong Bryan; daughter, Brenda Bryan Ware, and husband Jeff of Carthage, TX; son-in-law, Darryl Romero of Marrero, LA; sister, Minnie Fay McCain, and husband Leon of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Amy Romero, Joshua Mize, and wife Rachel, Valerie Mize, and Cody Romero; great-granddaughters, Adelaide Mize and Imogen Mize; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Pearl Hagood Bryan and Omer Davis Bryan, Sr.; daughter, Teri Bryan Romero; three brothers and one sister. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Troy McLarrin, Jeff Philley, Steve Pearce, Gary Guice, Jr., Shayne Bryan, and Michael McCain. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Bryan, Jerry Bryan, David Bryan, Jim Herron, Jay Herron, and Curtis Brown. Memorial contributions may be made to Bonita Road Baptist Church at 7204 Pine Grove Loop, Bastrop, LA 71220.
