Private graveside funeral services for Mr. George Lee Petty were held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, in Jones, LA, with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Mr. Petty, was born in Ft. Worth, TX on July 20, 1942, and passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024, at his residence, at the age of eighty-two.
He was a longtime resident of Jones, LA, and a retired farmer and restaurant business man.
Mr. Petty is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Louise Barthol Petty, also known by George as “Miss Louise”; three children, three step-children; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
George was a proud U.S. Army veteran and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Jones. He was a man who loved life and enjoyed being around people. He was one who loved his family dearly, especially “Miss Louise” and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed his time at the store in Jones, and was known for serving his “George” burger to those at the restaurant.
Mr. Petty was a man who trusted the Lord in his life, and he faced his passing with no reservations knowing that “to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.
