Obituary of Bro. Donald C. Slack

Funeral services for Bro. Donald C. Slack , age 80, of Mer Rouge, LA, are scheduled for 2 PM, Saturday, October 5, 2024 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bros. Danny Slack, Warren Walker and Bob Lonadier officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 PM until 2 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Bro. Don, a retired minister and member of Horseshoe Baptist Church, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served as a pastor for over fifty five years at many area churches. He held multiple ministry degrees. He is survived by his children, Johnie W. Slack and wife Missy, Danny Slack and wife Julie, Donna Carol Slack Arnold and husband Ed, Connie Slack Woods and husband Joseph; Sister, Diane Slack Walker and husband Warren; grandchildren, Jessica Denton and husband Kenneth, Mitchel Slack and wife Gabrielle, Mason Slack and wife Alyssa, Danny Slack, Jr. and wife Casey, Miracle Tomerlin and husband Ryan, Leslye Gray and husband Chris, Brittany Pettway and husband Dewel, Marissa Elliott, Brittany Arnold, Blake Arnold and wife Katie, Maggie Jennings and husband Mike; twenty three great grandchildren and the mother of his children, Monica Rae Ford. Bro. Don is preceded in death by his father, Johnie Slack and wife Maggie; mother, Malina Whaley and husband Marlin; siblings, Edna Cantrell, Allen Eugene Slack, Steven Roy Slack and David Slack.
