Obituary of Terry Lyn Reynolds

Terry Lyn Reynolds “crossed the River Jordan” on October 4, 2024 and is now with, Jesus, his risen Savior in Heaven. Services are scheduled for 2 PM Monday, October 7, 2024 at The Sanctuary Church, 11230 Crossett Rd., Bastrop, LA 71220 with Rev. Rocky Hemphill, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mer Rouge Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday at the church, prior to the service, beginning at 1 PM. A meal for the family will be provided at the Sanctuary Church.
Mr. Reynolds was a resident of Collinston and member of The Sanctuary Church. He was born in Bastrop, LA on July 24, 1949. The schools he attended were Pine Grove Elementary, Bastrop Central Junior High, and Bastrop High.
During his work career, he worked for International Paper Company for fourteen years . He was a fully certified Power Plant Operator. He also worked for several municipalities where he was a fully certified operator in water and waste water collection and distribution. He earned the highest certifications granted by the state of Louisiana. Terry retired as a manager from the American Water Company at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
One could describe Mr. Reynolds as a talented musician, avid sportsman and skilled gardener. He loved music and to use his talents to entertain others and to praise and share his love for the Lord. He played bass and lead guitars and sang in many bands from the age of fifteen. Some of the bands were the following: The Five Apollos, The Revolver Band and The Terry Reynolds Band. In addition, during his music ventures, Terry sang with the Sivils Quartet. They were inducted into the North Louisiana Gospel Music Hall of Fame. He even had an original song playing on the radio at one time.
As an outdoorsman, Terry loved to hunt and fish. Camping and boating were also activities he enjoyed with his family. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed dearly. He made the world a better place.
Mr. Reynolds is survived by his wife, Gloria J. Reynolds; daughter, Kathy Murphy, and husband Wesley; sons, Justin Gorman, Heath Gorman (Crystal Harris), and Greg Reynolds; sisters, Peggy Reynolds Duckworth and Debbie Hogan; grandchildren, Rylan Givens, Olivia Givens, Jacob Gorman, Kimi Reynolds, Matthew Murphy; and numerous other family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Homer Wesley Reynolds; mother, Thelma Louise Massey Reynolds; brother, Ronnie Meredeth; one infant child; four grandchildren; and numerous other loved ones.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Murphy, Rev. Ra’Shaud Harris, Rev. Nickolas “Nick” Burton, Justin Gorman, Heath Gorman, and Greg Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Ja’Leah Harris, Rev. Werner Lukas, and Rev. Shawn Johnson.
