Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Linda H. Skains are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, at Bartholomew United Methodist Church Cemetery, located at 14974 Old Bonita Rd, Bastrop, LA. 71220, with Bro. Robert O’Donnell officiating.
On the morning of November 30th, 2024, Linda Heath Skains passed away from this earthly Life at the age of seventy-eight. Her years of battling chronic illnesses took their toll, but not without a long hard fight. A longtime resident of Bastrop, LA, with her cane in hand, she had been able to be independent and drove herself practically anywhere she wanted to go.
Many years retired, she had spent 22yrs in the Morehouse Parish School system as a devoted School Bus Driver, worked several years at Bastrop Super Foods in the Meat Market and even worked for a bit at the Jordache’ Jeans Plant here in Bastrop years ago.
She enjoyed her retirement years by spending it as a, sometimes tough, but Loving Mother and Grandmother, time with her Family and Friends. When she could, was happy to go Deer Hunting with her brothers and sons. Every Thursday she could be found with her sisters at Deano & Dana’s house having coffee and gossiping. When at home, she stayed active playing a game of Darts with Junior, loved caring for her puppies and watching the other animals out in the pasture. Other times she was in her sewing room making countless quilts and aprons for loved ones. Lest we forget to mention her regular Hair appointments with Mr. Robin at the Bastrop Beauty School, because she never left the house if she didn’t have her hair & makeup done.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff Noel and Zora Mae Heath; husband, Robert Earl Skains, Sr.; son, Jimmy Lee Skains; daughter, Billie Jo Honeycutt; and brother Henry Clifton Heath.
Survivors include sons, Robert Earl Skains, “Junior” and George “Deano” Skains and wife Dana, of Bastrop; sister Sheila Sudduth, of Bastrop; brothers, William “Cooter” Heath and wife Linda, of Bastrop and Bobby Wayne Lucas and wife Janet of California, and Sister(-in-Law) Davlyn Heath of Bastrop; as well as nearly two dozen Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, countless cousins, nieces and nephews.
She will be Missed Dearly by all those who knew and loved her.
