Graveside funeral services for Doris Virginia Prisock Johnston are scheduled for Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11 AM, in Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Marvin Tabora and Rev. David Sistrunk officiating. Doris Johnston, a resident of Bastrop and a retired business owner, passed away December 3, 2024, at the age of eighty-nine. In 1965, she started her life long career in the nursing home business. She served as administrator, owner, and board member to several nursing facilities in North East Louisiana. La Grand Healthcare in Bastrop was one of her proudest accomplishments of all her businesses. Ms. Johnston will be most remembered by the community as a strong business lady and a dynamic leader. Her compassion to help others in need was touched by many. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God. At the time of her death, she attended North Bastrop Church of God. Her strong Christian faith was always a constant throughout her life. Reading daily Bible scriptures always provided her with wisdom and comfort. Proverbs 31:31 “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Ms. Johnston is survived by her daughters, Donnice Reynolds, and husband Stuart, Tammie Sistrunk, and husband Mark; grandchildren, Gabe Reynolds, Lauren Reynolds Vyvial, Joseph Sistrunk, Adam Sistrunk, Thomas Sistrunk; and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, A.J. Johnston. She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her family, anyone who knows them, know that she was a super star in their eyes, and that’s all that ever truly matters.
