Obituary of James E. Bishop

Graveside funeral services for James E. Bishop are scheduled for 10 AM Monday, December 16, 2024, in Pine Grove South Cemetery with Bro. Tim Post officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 5 PM - 7 PM at Golden Funeral Home. Mr. Bishop, a resident of Bastrop, LA, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the age of ninety-three. He served our country in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean War and retired from the International Paper Company after thirty-eight years of service. Mr. Bishop loved spending time at his camp, being outdoors, and gardening. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife of seventy-two years, Ellen Kemp Bishop; daughters, Sarah Bishop Johnson, and husband Jerry of Bastrop, LA, and Karen Bishop Perdue of Hebert, LA; grandchildren, Kristen Lairemore, and husband James of Bastrop, LA, Jamie Johnson, and wife Erica of West Monroe, LA; great-grandchildren, Kinsley Myers, Kiley Lairemore, Briggs Johnson, and Turner Johnson. Mr. Bishop is preceded in death by his parents, Snyder and Myrtle Bishop; siblings, Glenn Bishop, Jerrene Edwards, Snyder Bishop, Jr., Paul Bishop, and Randolph Bishop.
