Obituary of Frances Elaine Woodhouse Hurst

A celebration of life service for Frances Elaine Woodhouse Hurst is scheduled for 11 AM Saturday, January 25, 2025, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Sharon Hurst Hungerford officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10 AM. Mrs. Hurst, a lifelong resident of Bastrop, LA, and retiree of Morehouse Parish School systems passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at the age of ninety-four. She graduated from NLU in Elementary Education with a Masters, plus 30 and taught in Morehouse Parish seventeen years. She served as Choir Director and Organist for the First Presbyterian Church and Organist for Christ Episcopal in Bastrop for many years. Mrs. Hurst was also a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Circle and taught piano and organ for many years. She was devoted to her family and music, and will be missed dearly. Mrs. Hurst is survived by her daughter, Sharon Hurst Hungerford; sons, James “Jim” Alan Hurst, and wife Frances, and David Mark Hurst, and wife Cindy; son-in-law, Mark Craven; grandchildren, Ben Hurst, Brooke Corbello Smith, Ryan Austin Corbello, Christopher Hungerford, Michael Hungerford, Laura Jones, Holly Hurst, James Robert Hurst; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. Hurst; daughter, Teri Hurst Craven; sisters, Peggy Woodhouse Davis, Dottie Woodhouse Williamson; granddaughter, Ami Christine Hurst; and son-in-law, Peter Hungerford.
