Obituary of Verda Prewitt Stall O'Bannon

A celebration of life for Mrs. Verda Prewitt Stall O’Bannon, age 88, is scheduled for 10 AM Saturday, January 18, 2025, at First Baptist Church Bernice with Bro. Reagan Colvin and Bro. Stan Elkins officiating. Interment will follow in Bernice Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday January 17, 2025, from 5 PM until 7 PM at First Baptist Church in Bernice. Mrs. O’Bannon, a resident of Bernice, LA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 13, 2025, while surrounded by her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church Bernice, where she served for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. A dedicated Christian who loved the Lord, she exemplified that love as she carried the fervor of the Holy Spirit as she lived her life. Her career existed as a teacher for twenty-seven years and she loved each of her students as her own family. Teaching was her life as she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and many other areas of service to the Lord through the church. Music was also a vital part of her life, and she sang in the First Baptist Church Bernice choir for over sixty years. Family left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Karla Stall Williams and husband, Gary, and Debra Stall; sisters, Betty Elkins and Pat Elkins and husband, Tom; brothers, Herbert Prewitt and wife, Winnie; step-daughter, Cheryl Bolick and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Rachael Lary and, Ben, Nathan Kelley and, Tracy, Trey Parker, Colin Brice, John Starner; step-grandson, Garrison Williams; great grandchildren, Embry Williams, Jake Lary, Emma Lary and Neal Parker. Mrs. O’Bannon is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. A.H. and Flossie Prewitt; husband, Harry Stall, Jr.; husband, Sam O’Bannon; siblings, Marvin Prewitt, Doris Barkley and Mary Bowen. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. O’Bannon’s grandsons, great grandsons, Brian Elkins, Daniel Elkins, Stan Elkins and Wess Bowen. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Colvin, Cal Colvin, Terry Joe Oliver, Tobe Grafton, Phil O’Bannon and Kenny Dendy.
