Obituary of Theron Wayne Scott

Funeral services for Mr. Theron Wayne Scott are scheduled for 2 PM Thursday January 30, 2025, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Andy Myrick Officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, prior to the service, beginning at 1 PM. Mr. Scott, a resident of Bastrop, LA and retiree of International Paper Company, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the age of seventy-six. He enjoyed fishing, turkey hunting, deer hunting, and tending to his garden. He also liked to “run dogs”, earning him his nickname “cannonball.” Mr. Scott will be remembered as someone who was always willing to help others. He was very well thought of by everyone that knew him. Mr. Scott enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and step grandchildren, taking pride in teaching them to hunt. He loved his sweet dog, Tebow (14 years old), and for the last fifteen years, Mr. Scott enjoyed having his Johnny’s pizza every Saturday evening! He will be missed dearly. Mr. Scott is survived by his wife, Berna Scott; children, Becky Goodman, and husband Vance, Chris Scott, and wife Leslie, and Lane Scott; step children, Jarrod Golson, Kristin Golson Hattaway, and husband Shane; brother, Ronnie Scott; grandchildren, Derrick Vail, Mariah Stephenson, Brady Scott, Shanna Scott, Amanda LaFleur, Mason Scott, Peyton Hattaway, Macy Hattaway; and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Theron and Estelle Scott; and sister, Pat Campbell. Serving as pallbearers will be Derrick Vail, Brady Scott, Mason Scott, Bubba Stephenson, Petyon Hattaway, and Scott Culp. Honorary pallbearers will be Jarrod Golson and Randy Rodgers. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Haven Home Health and staff, Premier Hospice and staff, and Deidra Hill, FNP, for the wonderful care they gave to Theron.
