Obituary of David "Dave" Mitchell McCarty

Funeral services for Mr. David "Dave" Mitchell McCarty, age 55, of Dallas, TX are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time. Mr. McCarty passed away Monday, December 24, 2018.

Dave graduated from Prairie View Academy and attended Northeast Louisiana University. He went on to receive a B.A. degree from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, TX and pursued his Masters degree in Political Science from the University of Houston. While in Houston he taught several years in the Harris County Community College System. He then became involved in Information Technology and was presently employed by the Dallas County Office of Information Technology as a Senior Server Administrator. Dave loved music and photography. He collected, built and played guitar as well as many other musical instruments. He was also an avid reader of nonfiction.

Dave is survived by his parents, David and Ronna McCarty of Bastrop, LA and numerous aunts and uncles including, Elizabeth Petrus of West Monroe, LA, Cleve Curtis of Bastrop, LA, Beth Haynes and Shirley Wall both of Rayville, LA and Barbara Frehe of Kingwood, TX.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Erma McCarty, Wilbur McCarty, Elmer E. Curtis, Jean Curtis and Wilson Streeter.
