I remember going to Bastrop to visit Uncle Jack, Aunt Rachel, Mary Ellen and Anita and thinking how could they live in Bastrop because the city smelled so bad. My Dad, Rex Taliaferro (Jack's younger brother) told me that smell meant "money" for the folks who worked at the sawmill. I also remember eating Aunt Rachel's famous German Chocolate cake and Mary Ellen telling me it was no big deal since she and Anita enjoyed their Mom's cooking all the time. The last time I saw Mary Ellen was at a family reunion held at her home. What a great time we had. Mary Ellen will be missed by the Taliaferro cousins.
