Obituary of Mary Alice Stevens

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Alice Stevens, age 92, will be held at 2 PM Monday August 19, 2019 in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home, with Brother David Sistrunk officiating.

Mrs. Stevens, a resident of Bastrop, a retired nurse, and a Church of God Pastor, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019. Mrs. Stevens was a member of North Bastrop Church of God. She loved her Lord, and her family, and everyone loved her. She was like a mother to even her nieces and nephews. She was full of life, always smiling and never complained. The family would like to send special thanks to the caring staff at Lagniappe Health Care for helping make her stay there like home for her. Mrs. Stevens is preceded in death by her husband, V.L. “Buck” Stevens.

Mrs. Stevens is survived by two step children, that she loved as her own, Shelia Bishop and husband Bruce of Swartz, LA, and Gary Stevens and wife Jackie of Longview, TX; a sister, Bernice Carpenter of Camden, AR; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Freeman, Craig Freeman,  Wayne Freeman, Jerry Hinton, Kerry Carpenter, Royce Carpenter, Matthew Stevens, Lucas Stevens, Sandy Freeman, Keith McDermitt, Ron McDermitt, Les McDermitt, and Jordan Bishop.

The Family will receive friends from 1 PM until service time at Golden Funeral Home.
