Obituary of Charlie Montgomery

Funeral services for Charlie “Coach” Montgomery, age fifty-two, are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday, August 31, 2019, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff May officiating. Interment will follow in Tillou Baptist Cemetery.

Charlie was a coach for many years with the Dixie Youth Softball League and the travel teams “Impact" and "Fury”. He was an avid contact sports fan who loved cooking, his family, friends, and his ball players.

He is survived by his daughters, Amelia Montgomery, Alyssa Nicole Montgomery, both of Bastrop; sisters, Nelda Lusby and husband Larry of Bastrop, Connie Ramsey of Hamburg, AR; brothers, David Montgomery, Billy Montgomery and wife Barbara, both of Bastrop; grandson, Caleb James Green, of Bastrop; numerous nieces and nephews; best friends, Ron Lara and wife Lori, and Blake DeCorte and wife Chelsea.

Mr. Montgomery is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Winnie Ruth Montgomery; and brother, Richard “Buddy” Montgomery.

Pallbearers will be: Ron Lara, Blake DeCorte, Billy Montgomery, David Montgomery, Juan Cabrera, Zach Meeks, Joseph Ray and Bobby Ehrman.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 30, 2019 from 5 PM - 7 PM at Golden Funeral Home.
