Obituary of Katharyn "Kathy" Lilly Laing

Funeral services for Mrs. Katharyn “Kathy” Lilly Laing, age seventy two, will be held at 2 PM Thursday, February 13, 2020 in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Brother Harry Lilly officiating. Mrs. Laing, a homemaker and a resident of Bastrop, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020. She was born on November 15, 1947, in Montgomery, AL, on the Maxwell Air Force Base, to Cecil Harry Lilly, Jr. and Katharyn Day Lilly. Mrs. Laing served on the Committee of American Legion Ladies Auxillary Post 51. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she loved them all and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who were ALL her favorite. She also loved all those who came her way. Mrs. Laing loved bird watching, making floral arrangements, and listening to Elvis Presley. Mrs. Laing was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Harry Lilly, Jr.; father-in-law, L.E. Laing; mother-in-law, Pearl Laing; brothers-in-law, Don Laing, Gene Laing; and special niece, Leslie Elton Smith. Mrs Laing is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Joe Laing; her mother, Katharyn Day Lilly; daughters, Jonette Gray and husband Barry, Karen Laing, Karla Floyd and husband Scott; a son, Eric Laing; a sister Penny Murphy; a brother, Harry Lilly and wife Pam; sister-in-law, Diane Laing McMullan and husband Billy; grandchildren, Lance Gray and fiancé Canaan, Katelynn Gray, Gracelyn Clark, Colleen Tubbs and husband Stephen, Coby Laing and wife Chelsee, Christy Laing, Natilli Floyd, Ryan Floyd and wife Brittany; great grandchildren, Ethan, Owen, Lillian, Jaxx, Kane, KaBella, and Zaiden; and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Cameron Smith, Logan Smith, Neal Elton, Brent Elton, and Brandon McDonald. Honorary pallbearer will be Randy Fortner. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM Wednesday at Golden Funeral Home.
