In 1979 I was hired to work for the city and that is when I met Assistant Chief Jesse Walker. Being 18 years old, part of my job was the tracking the expense of the police cars. I was so scared to call and talk to him. I quickly learned he was that way with everyone and later learned that his bark was worse than his bite. He watched the city’s money as if it was his as everyone should do.
He will be missed. Praying for the family.

Toni, I am so sorry for your loss. Jesse was truly a good man, even when he tried to be cantankerous at times, however, that was times he needed to be when he served in law enforcement. I always admired Jesse for his ability to lead in a job he loved from the very beginning. Toni, just know I am deeply sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers.

Words can't express my feelings at this time. Jesse has been a part of my life since I was very young. I grew to Love him like a Dad through the years. There's so many memories but my most favorite is one of our hunting trips. I was probably 10 years old and my family and I would go every evening to the game reserve and watch a buck deer cross a road. Mom would fix tuna fish sandwiches and we headed out. Opening morning Dad and Jesse put me on a stand down the road before daylight. I was sitting there beside the road and I was hearing something behind me. Everytime I would shine the light it'd quit. I stood it as long as I could, down the road to the truck I went. Jiggs wanted to make me go back down there but Jesse said he'd stay with me at truck until daylight. Long story short, Jesse killed the 8 point we had watched all week and had it mounted. Jiggs wanted to be mad at me but he stilled laughed about it. My love and prayers will be with Toni and the family forever. I'm gonna miss you my friend, but I know you're not hurting now and reunited with your family and friends. Till we meet again!! Greg

Jesse was my second dad and was there for as long as I can remember. I remember getting a very real like rubber snake and putting it in the freezer to get cold. I then put in a sack and gave to Jesse. When he reached in and grabbed that cold snake just let me say he wasn’t laughing. I loved him and will miss him very much.
