Jeannine D. Thornton, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020 Graveside services will be held at Christ Church Cemetery at 11 AM Monday, September 14, 2020. The family will receive friends Monday from 10 AM until 10:45 AM at Golden Funeral Home. Ms Thornton was born in Meridian MS in Lauderdale county to late parents of Leroy and Clyde Downing. Married to the late Buford Thornton born also In MS. He was a WWII veteran. Ms Thornton was a bookkeeper and office personal at International Paper Company and various other jobs. She was an avid quilter and belonged to a local quilting club where they quilted some for local charities which she loved doing and won several ribbons in showings for her talent. She also love knitting. She also liked caning and sharing vegetables they grew in the large garden they had and played basketball in school and loved playing the game. She moved to Georgia for awhile where she lived with the Langston/Hynum side of the family by the Christ Sanctified Holy Church in Perry, Georgia And then moved to Florida with her Nephew. Remaining family members are her nephews, Danny Ballinger of Bastrop LA, Lamar Brown of Summerfield FL, and Steve Brown of NC; cousins, Katherine Hynum, Kay Hynum, Janet and John Keldahl, Kristine Martin/Langston all of Perry, GA, Scott Hynum, Rodney and Sondra Harris all of Jacksonville, Fl.; and great niece Crystal and Bruce Walton, of Leary GA. She is preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Oscar and Tine Brown; brother and sister in law, RH and Betty Downing; and niece Teresa Brown. She loved all the family members current and passed with all of her heart and helped so many people thru the years She was a very stern and strong willed lady and the one that truly had her heart forever was her beloved husband who preceded her in death, MR Buford Thornton where she will be laid to rest beside him which was her final wish, where they will be together again.
