We shared many memories with Mattie and Charles traveling together with Raymond and Remona Westbrook. Playing cards and dominoes with friends at each others' house, celebrating New Years Eve with fire works and of course eating good food with Mattie and Charles. Mattie full of fun and grace, always welcomed into her home. She will be missed but not forgotten. Praying for the family left behind that one day they will be reunited with her in Heaven. We all have beautiful memories of the Aunt Mattie Opal hidden within us. A glimpse back in time, to childhood, to stories we heard all our lives. My Mom, is number 4 and Mattie Opal was number 5. Childhood’s spent side by side but also marriage and children right behind. “Spirit to spirit and heart to heart, sisters forever together and apart” Mattie Opal stood tall amongst us all. Mattie Opal will live inside us all, with memories, “Memories of our loved ones are worth cherishing, for they are the only ones that survive anything”. We love you Gal.

Aunt Mattie Opal loomed large in my life, especially during my childhood summers visiting relatives.
My share the sorrow of her passing with my whole family and all those who knew and loved her.
I’ve added a photo, showing Aunt Matt and her 9 siblings, including my mother.

My thanks to Aunt Shirley Ann & cousin DeAnna for the wonderful slide show of Aunt Matt’s life.
