Obituary of Walter Victor (W.V) DeBlieux

Graveside Services for Walter Victor (W.V.) DeBlieux will be held at 10:00 am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Bastrop, LA on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 under the direction of Golden Funeral Home with Father Timothy Hurd officiating. A special Mass for immediate family will be held prior to the graveside services at the St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was a member.
W.V. passed away January 9th, 2021 at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe, LA after a brief illness. W.V. was born July 24, 1931 in Columbia, Louisiana and was 89 years old at the time of his death.
W.V. was involved with several Community and Private organizations during his life. W.V. was instrumental in the start of the Lucy Hudson/ARC organization in Bastrop, LA that assists intellectually and developmentally disabled children and adults, as the parent of a special needs’ daughter, Donna Kay DeBlieux. W.V. was also involved with the youth of Bastrop throughout his life by bringing the Dixie Baseball Program to Bastrop, LA. W.V. served as a board member of the Morehouse Athletic Association until his death which manages the Baron Ballpark Facility. W.V. retired from International Paper Company after 42 years of service in 1989 and he served as the Treasurer of the International Paper Century Quarter Club until his death. W.V., along with Son-in-Law, Glen Hendrix, started a business as Co-Owner of D & H Sporting Goods in 1975 until his retirement in 2005. Being a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, W.V. was a Faithful Servant to our Lord. He served in many capacities as a committee member of several church organizations and as a Eucharistic Minister.
W.V. is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Joy DeBlieux, children Cindy Hendrix and her husband, Glen, of Bastrop, and Larry DeBlieux and wife, Tia, of Bastrop. Grandchildren Christina, Chris & Jonathan Hendrix, Derek & Tyler DeBlieux. Great Grandchildren Anna Pruitt, Dustin & Austin Williamson, Bradyn & Parker Hendrix and Jackson DeBlieux. Sister Tina Stephenson of Charleston SC, Brothers Johnny DeBlieux and wife Wilma and Robert DeBlieux of Bastrop.
W.V. is preceded in death by his parents, Honore Louis and Ozet Perot DeBlieux of Bastrop and 10 brothers and sisters, Daughter Donna Kay DeBlieux of Bastrop, Granddaughter Erin Brooke DeBlieux of Bracey VA.
Honorary pallbearers will be Grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to all of the caregivers throughout the years for their support.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bastrop.
