Obituary of James "Jim" Brigham Todd

James (Jim) Brigham Todd passed away peacefully on September 29, 2021 at the age of 94 in Sugar Land, Tx.
He was born March 3, 1927 to Ray Stewart Todd and Virginia Chenault Todd in Swartz, La. At an early age his family moved to Sweeny, Tx where he played basketball and 6-man football earning all-district honors. After graduating from Sweeny High School in 1944, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Jim served in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was discharged in June, 1946. After discharge, he moved to Bastrop, La where he worked and graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a degree in Mathematics. During this time, he met his future wife, Sally Ann Patterson, and they were married at Bastrop’s First Baptist Church on January 28, 1949.
In 1954, Jim joined Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Company as a pipeline construction engineer. He worked at Transco for 32 years where he greatly enjoyed his work and his contributions to the growth of the company. During his time with Transco, he lived in many different states throughout the south and east, making lifelong friends along the way. Jim and his family moved to Houston in 1966 and he retired from Transco in 1986. After enjoying a brief retirement, Jim joined International Gas Consultants and began a second career as a consulting engineer. Jim worked another 25 years with IGC and retired again at the age of 86.
Jim and Sally started their family in 1950 with the birth of their sons, Stewart, followed by Jamie (1954) and Robert (1958). In 1960 their daughter Tricia was born.
Jim was an active member of Sugar Land Baptist Church. His faith in Christ guided his life and gave him a great desire for integrity, fairness and justice. He enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, golf, bowling, bridge, genealogy, the challenge of working crossword puzzles and was an avid Astros fan. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking pies, bread, cornbread, biscuits and his famous dinner rolls. His family especially enjoyed his Saturday morning pancake breakfasts where all family and visitors were welcome.
Jim is predeceased by his parents, Ray Stewart Todd and Virginia Chenault Todd, brothers Stewart Winston Todd, William (Billy) Harvey Todd, and Dan Chenault Todd.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Sally Ann Patterson Todd, his brother, John Richard Todd (Lenora McCroskey), sons Stewart Todd (Dianna), Jamie Todd (Jennifer), Robert Todd (Dianda), daughter Tricia Dilick (Mike), 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren with another expected in November, 2021.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 5th at 10:00 am at Christ Church Cemetery in Bastrop, La. A memorial service will take place on Friday, October 8th at 11:00am at Sugar Land Baptist Church, 16755 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, TX 77479.
