Obituary of James Lloyd Cummins

Funeral services for Mr. James Lloyd Cummins, age 83, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Post and Bro. Dennis Hackler officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday at the church.
Mr. Cummins, a retiree of International Paper Company and a self employed carpenter, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, at the age of eighty-three. He has been a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church for sixty four years and has served as a deacon for forty nine years. Mr. Cummins was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a very unique man who loved his family. He enjoyed hard work and working in his yard as well as tending to his Boer goats. Mr. Cummins was known for his quick wit and his many jokes and humorous sayings.
Mr. Cummins is survived by his wife, Lana Cummins; daughters, Paula Morrison and husband Tony, Penny Montcalm and husband Monty; sister, Helen Shockey and husband Cleo; sister-in-law, Shirley Cummins; grandchildren, Micah Heckford, Zeb Montcalm and wife Carly, Jacob Morrison and wife Tara, Josh Morrison and wife Cara; great grandchildren, Kerrigan Tatum, River Heckford, Easton Morrison, Caylor Morrison, Harper Morrison; bonus family, Keith Smith and wife Tammie, Kevin Smith, Brian Smith and wife Connie, Ken Smith and wife Trish; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Myrna Cummins; wife Margaret Cummins; parents, Jim and Bonnie Cummins; brother, Charles Cummins; and grandson, Jordan Heckford.
Serving the family as pallbearers are Monty Montcalm, Tony Morrison, Micah Heckford, and Zeb Montcalm, Charlie Cummins, and Keith Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Ryder, Charles Reynolds, Zane Tubbs, Dr. Carter Cox, Jerry Bridges, and the deacons of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Cherry Ridge Baptist Church at 1005 Cherry Ridge Rd., Bastrop, LA 71220
